Dr. Caldwell joins the Capital Region Orthopaedics practice as a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with fellowship-training in Sports Medicine. Prior to joining Capital Region Orthopaedics in New York, Dr. Caldwell was in the Department of Orthopedics at Kaiser Permanente Hawaii Region. Before joining Kaiser Permanente, Dr. Caldwell had a general orthopedics private practice. His private practice specialties included sports medicine, total joint replacement, fracture care and hand surgery. He served on the Surgical Peer Review Committee and on the Library Committee.

Dr. Samuel Caldwell complete fellowship-training in Sports Medicine at Brookline Hospital in Chestnut Hill, MA under support of the University of Massachusetts in Worcester, MA. He completed Residency training in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Louisville in Louisville, KY. Dr. Caldwell completed an Internship in General Surgery at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. He completed his Medical Degree at the University of Louisville Medical School and his Bachelor of Arts in American Studies at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.

Dr. Caldwell is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
